Understanding the Solar Eclipse of April 8th
We’re about to embark on a journey where time bends and prophecies are fulfilled.
Within a week, it will be the “beginning of months” “unto you” (Exodus 12:2). Seventy days before the children of Israel entered the promised land, the frequently used term throughout Deuteronomy, “when you come into the land,” regularly used for the commandments to possess the land, changes to “this day” in Deuteronomy 9:1. The entire genre of “when you come into the land” becomes no longer “when,” but changes to “THIS DAY” you shall cross over the Jordan.
The Biblical Context of Nissan and Its Significance
The immediate question arises, “why does the narrative move out of ‘when you come into the land’ to ‘this day’ when in reality it is literally 70 days into the future on the 10th day of Nissan?” It is because the month of Nissan was ordained by God to be a month of FULFILLMENT. In Exodus 12:2, it is called the “beginning of months” given by commandment by God. In a sovereign sense, it demonstrates God’s supreme rule over time. It ushers God’s people into destiny and preordained promises through signs and wonders. The acts of God and word of God are not dead history. What God did then, God will do again every Nissan.
Transition from Prophecy to Fulfillment in Deuteronomy
So what does that have to do with the solar eclipse on the Biblical holiest of days “Rosh Chodesh Nissan”? Just as in Deuteronomy 9:1, God changes the “not yet” into the “Already,” the time fulfilled has come. Time is now; we are in the “already.”
The April 8 Solar Eclipse: A Celestial Sign of Fulfillment
The Solar Eclipse of April 8 serves as a warning to us; by God’s mercy, we have moved out of the “not yet” into the “already”. This means April 8 reveals a celestial witness in the heavens; “fulfillment is here.” On this day, the 1st day of Nissan (April 8) is a day to announce the beginning of prophesied days coming to fulfillment. These days given by God Himself as a time “appointed” are monumentally significant. Throughout the Scripture, the text teaches there is a prophetic pattern that reveals FULFILLMENT in the month of Nissan. It earmarks fulfillment of God’s faithfulness to the forefathers—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—in fulfilling His promise of the Exodus. It is the fulfillment of 40 years later of Israel entering the Promised Land in Nissan. It is most of all the fulfillment of God sending salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Prophetic Patterns and the April 8 Solar Eclipse
So what does that have to do with the solar eclipse of April 8 Rosh Chodesh Nissan? Did you know that this solar eclipse is exactly 7 years from the last biblically accurate solar eclipse of 2017? That eclipse was a final sign in a series of “7 signs in 7 years”. Those signs began on Hanukkah 2013 with the comet Ison followed by a series of tetrads of blood moons and solar eclipses all on biblical feasts, including a 2015 solar eclipse on Rosh Chodesh Nissan like this one. Remarkably, after the series of signs in the masterfully designed biblical feasts proclaim for us startling messages that point of things to come. These 7 signs in the heavens begin an escalation of events like “birth pangs” concluded with Covid 19 at the end of the 7 year cycle in 2020.
Biblical Signs in the Heavens: Solar Eclipses and Blood Moons
Not all solar eclipses and not all blood moons are signs in the heavens as witness to the world. The biblical signs ordained by God must be according to what scripture has ordained. Jesus said in Luke 21:25, “There shall be signs in the sun and the moon and the stars.” Psalm 19:1 says, “The heavens declare the glory of the Lord and the firmament shows His handiwork.”
The Last Days: Prophetic Signs and Their Meaning
These are signs in the heavens prophesied by Jesus as a series of “otot” in Hebrew “signs” that shall mark the last days. These signs are also given specifically as a solar eclipse and lunar eclipse as spoken of by the prophet Joel (Joel 2:31). These unusual signs were spoken of on the day of Pentecost as a miraculous marker of the close of the era of the Gentiles Acts 2:20. The spiritual significance of April 8 demonstrates 7, the repeated symbol in The Book of Revelation. 7, or 7th, is repeated over 95 times in Revelation. In biblically based hermeneutics that is a rule that employs “repetition means something special”.
